Archive for September, 2007

There are currently 5 Second Life Stock Exchanges. They are the World Stock Exchange, International Stock Exchange, Virtual Stock Exchange and SL Capital Exchange, Dreamland Stock Exchange.

At this moment, World Stock Exchange is the leading stock exchange in terms of number of Listing, Trading Value and Volume. Virtual Stock Exchange is right behind. The other 3 are lagging behind, but Dreamland Stock Exchange run by Anshe could be a serious contender.

I will be working towards a possible IPO listing in one of the stock exchange to fund my first private estate.

I have decided to change the theme for RichardPalace.com. Tagline has also been changed from “Blog of a Second Life Land Developer” to “Second Life Land Rental and Stock Trading”.

On Wednesday, September 19, we will be launching the new Second Life auction system. Transitioning to FairMarket, an external auction platform powered by eBay technology, allows Linden Lab to continue our focus on improving platform stability and other core initiatives. At this time only Linden Lab land auctions (mainland and a small number of abandoned parcels) will be placed into the new system. In the future we may also allow other types of auctions and sales through this new service.Buyers will probably notice only minimal differences. Click on Auctions from the Second Life homepage, and find land auctions in $L and $USD, featured parcels, and links to manage and track your bids. Please refer to the FAQ page when we launch next week for more details on registration, eligibility, bidding, billing and resolving problems .

The one exception is that currently you may participate in auctions for land reservations. Residents could reserve space for a period of three months. Under the new system, we are no longer supporting these reservations. For Residents who have unconverted reserved land, we will honor the reservation for a three month period (the maximum a single reservation auction runs without renewal) from the launch date.

After the three month period, all unconverted reservations will be allowed to lapse. This does not alter the reserved area inherent around all regions automatically, and we still will not allow regions to be impinged upon nor allow “blocking” by others. Further details on island placements and moves will be discussed another post.

Happy Bidding!

Very interesting indeed.

Second Life might even turn this new auction system into a leading virtual auction site.

Imagine if we could put all the Second List related items like our land, products, L$ on the auction list and Linden charge a listing fee just like ebay.

Next could be the Linden Payment System just like Paypal and Google Checkout.

Over the last couple of months we have been working hard to complete the development of a new and much improved auction system that will initially be used to replace the way we currently auction new and recycled mainland. We’re now drawing close to release day for this auction system, therefore to ensure a smooth transition we will be halting mainland supply using the existing auction page effective immediately.A further blog post will follow, providing more information on the new system. We hope to have the new auction page up and running within 7-14 days, when we will resume mainland supply at the previously announced rate (no more than 8 regions per day). This rate will then continue through for what remains of September. Until then, there will be no new mainland being auctioned.

Linden will not be released any land for at least the next 7 days to 14 days. After which, they will resume the supply at “no more than 8 regions per day” till end of SEP 2007 which could possibly mean no release of mainland till it’s OCT 2007.

Now is the best time to buy land.

The last batch of mainland for auction was on the 4th Sep 2007.

Until now, 9th Sep 2007, Linden has not released any mainland for auction. According to what they mentioned on the blog, they are behind the schedule by 40 mainlands.

Meanwhile price has moved up slightly from under 6 to about 6.1-6.3 L$/sqm. Price will likely to move up as long as Linden stop releasing land.

I believe Linden will again reduce the release of mainland for auction to 6 per day when they review their land supply on 15 Sep 2007.
