Most countries celebrate Labour Day on May 1. But some countries celebrate on a different day. In United States and Canada, it takes place on the first Monday of September.
So what is Labour Day?
Labour Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from efforts of the labour union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers.
The celebration of Labour Day has its origins in the eight hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. On 21 April 1856 Stonemasons and building workers on building sites around Melbourne, Australia, stopped work and marched from the University of Melbourne to Parliament House to achieve an eight hour day. Their direct action protest was a success, and they are noted as the first organized workers in the world to achieve an eight hour day with no loss of pay, which subsequently inspired the celebration of Labour Day and May Day.
I wish everyone a happy and safe Labour Day.

Maldives is one of the place I wish to visit for its beaches and clear water. However, the rising sea level could submerge the paradise island.
Maldives President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom made an impassioned plea for a cut in global greenhouse gas emissions.
He launched a book at the UN-backed Business for the Environment conference to highlight the threat to his South Asian tropical island chain favoured by tourists for its white sandy beaches, clear waters and swaying palm trees.
“My people are blessed with one of the most beautiful settings that nature has to offer… To many people across the world, our shores have indeed become an earthly paradise. This paradise, though, is endangered,” he said.
“Each year, the seas that make up 99 percent of the Maldives are rising, and, slowly but surely, engulfing our 1,192 low-lying islands and posing serious risks to the lives and livelihoods of the people.”
It would be sad to see the Maldives submerge.

Today, I noticed a change in Google PageRank on 4 of my websites. 2 of the sites, which I started this year, 2008, has achieved a PageRank of 2 while another old site has moved from a Google PageRank 4 to 5.
Richard Palace Dot Com has also moved from Google PageRank 2 to 3.
So what is Google PageRank?
PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page’s importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page’s PageRank is calculated.
PageRank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results. It isn’t the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.
The next Google PageRank update is expected to be somewhere in July.

Microsoft has cut the prices of its Xbox 360 console by up to $121.
The Pro version of the console now costs $499 (previously $620), the Elite version costs $699 (previously $799) and the Arcade version costs $399 (previously $459).
The company’s aggressive price-cutting strategy is part of Microsoft’s efforts to make the Xbox 360 “more accessible” and to gain market share.
The Xbox console lacks the coveted Blu-ray high-definition drive that rival console PlayStation 3 touts.
This is not the first time Microsoft has slashed prices of its console. Last August, it reduced the price of the Xbox 360 by $40.
Sony, on the other hand, has increased prices of its PlayStation 3 (PS3) console to $599 from $559 since April 21.
Nintendo has no immediate plans to tweak prices for its Wii console, which retails at $659 and comes bundled with three games.
But Microsoft might want to heed the demands of gamers and release a console with a Blu-ray drive soon if it is to make any headway in the gaming console space.
Mr Eric Chua, an account executive, said: “I don’t mind paying more for the PS3 because it has a Blu-ray drive. It means the games and movies that I buy will be future-proof.”

On a magical night, before an Old Trafford crowd at their raucous best, the champions of England set up a all-English Champions League final through the brilliance of an Englishman, Paul Scholes.
Scholes’ goal also vindicated Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to rest him against Chelsea on Saturday. Now United will meet the winners of this evening’s meeting between Chelsea and Liverpool in Moscow on May 21
These were the situations Scholes adores, a yard of space just outside the box, a glimpse of an unprotected goalkeeper as defenders vainfully sought to man the barricades. The gift of possession had been kindly donated by Barcelona, by Gianluca Zambrotta, a World Cup-winning full-back bizarrely turning into a hung-over Sunday league player. Having gained the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo, the Italian inexplicably hit it blind across his area. Scholes had his chance. That right foot thudded into the ball, sending it flying past Gabriel Milito and then curling away from Victor Valdes in the Barcelona goal. Sensational.

International football star Ronaldo had a fight with 3 prostitutes he brought back to his Brazil motel room after he discovered they were actually men.
Police became involved when an “altercation” happened as the 31-year-old A C Milan striker came to the shocking realisation that the call girls he had paid to have group sex with after his night out were in fact transvestites.
Ronaldo went into hiding Tuesday after a run-in with cross-dressing prostitutes that prompted police to investigate whether to charge one with trying to extort money from the soccer star.
The AC Milan player, in Brazil recovering from a knee surgery, canceled two TV appearances, and local media said he will continue physiotherapy at his home.
Police said Ronaldo committed no crime, but he was accused by one prostitute of using drugs and not wanting to pay.
Prostitution is legal in Brazil.

Well, If you follow my post or read my previous blog post about WordPress 2.51 Installed, you will know that I just changed my theme on the 27th Apr. I was deciding on which themes to use. The Feed Count Image on this theme, LightBreaker, is a default image that comes with the theme itself.
However, before I could change it, Buny from FullMetal Alchemist posted This Guy Fakes His Feed Count, Super Lame. Anyway, I do not blame him, but thanks for his reminder.
I have just installed the correct Feed Count right from FeedBurner.
