PS3 update 2.35 has just been released by Sony today.
This firmware update 2.35 is meant “to improve stability’ for a number of PlayStation 3 titles but is not fixing anything related to the GTA IV issue some gamers on older PS3 consoles experience.
Sony did not said which titles will benefit from this new firmware update 2.35

Id rather not update my ps3 just to improve system stability. System Stability should only be included in an update if theres something new being added to the ps3 (flash and java updates for the web browser, or other new features). To download and install a basically empty update is only a waste of time in my opinion.

All these updates really annoy me…not the fact it takes a hr+ to download the update…not the fact that almost all of the “improvments” are hardly noticable…nor the fact that its 160mb every update when they could just make a much smaller patch to modify the existing fermware…its the fact that i CANNOT PLAY ONLINE when there is a new update…are the new slideshow features really important? do i really want to watch the download bar painfully increase while my friends are having the time of there life killing each other on cod4?

I completely agree with everyone that has commented on this update issue.

Yeah, it bothers me that I have to download the update before I play games online, like CoD4.
Danny on May 16, 2008 at 9:05 pm
yeah, i sold my 360 to get a ps3 and at the minute it aint a patch on the 360, why do ya have to install every bloody game? i spent a week tryin to get that metal gear solid beta test to work and it just wouldny complete the update, even with a 20mb connection. bring back my 360 ;-(

these updates make me mad and take hours install… what i wanna see an update for is to fix the online for the freaking older 60gig ps3’s. I have a 60 gig ps3 and everytime a gaming patch releases it cancels out at a random percentage but if its a ps3 network download from the store or system update it works fine… they need to release a patch to make the online work!

I beg to differ from everybody. Y’all just don’t understand the complexity of the system, every update is important or else what would be the point, do you think people just think stuff up and then throw it out there, theres alot of thought and effort that goes into a update so far every update besides this has benefited in some way, if they come up with a better stability engine then most likely its because its more officiant. As for Danny the 360 is for gameplay the ps3 is for people who understand better technology.the ps3 as of right now is the elite system that just needs time because of its complexity it will be soon enough when we shall receive updates that will shut you up.
that will shut you up.

gamerguy everytime a gaming patch releases it cancels out at a random percentage i have 60 and my bro has 40 and it does the same thing

i think theres a few people have been misled or have drawn the short straw so a few points.
1 - i have an older model 60gb ps3. i do NOT have problems with the downloading of patches etc, every download i have had o nthe ps3 of any type has, *touch wood*, downloaded and installed perfectly first time, every time.
2 - of course you cant play while there are system or game updates taking place! otherwise you would be running the old code that was being overwritten by the new update. i think you would rather wait than end up with corrupted data or even worse firmware?!
3 - why are you all saying it takes so long to download updates? i have just downloaded and installed the new v2.35 firmware and it took 10 minutes if that and i was playing again. and this is on a shitty phoneline with a slow connection that fluctuates between 1.5 and 2.5 mbps, also behind a router! i would strongly advise checking your internet settings or your router settings…..
4 - on the issue of “bring back my 360″, why did you sell your 360 if you prefer it? the bottom line at the moment is, the hardware in the ps3 is so complex that no1 really knows how to code or use it to its potential yet. if you want a games catalogue NOW then go get a 360. if you want the most and best features and future proofing then get or stick with a ps3. when developers learn how to control the pure power of the ps3 (this will be initally demonstrated once games like final fantasy XIII comes out running on the white engine - real time cgi animation on the cell, no deviation between cut scenes and gameplay) then the 360 will be left standing and looking like the toy it is in comparision to the ps3.
Blaze1989 on May 18, 2008 at 11:21 pm
i compltly agree wiv fenderfez the ps3 will jus keep on gettin better n better unlike da xbox
travis on May 19, 2008 at 12:42 am
I agree with the ones who actually compliment the ps3. I believe that the ps3 way better than the 360 in terms of technology wise…but for gaming wise the 360 is the choice. but I could care less because the 360 is rpg/fps which I hate. plus a lot are multiplat. and if the download takes a while then use a pc and transfer it with a usb stick. took 10mins to download and 5mins to install. and again the games aren’t a big deal because not everyone can spend 60..especially if the game is not worth it. gta4 abd mgs4 will keep me busy for a long time
Blaze1989 on May 19, 2008 at 8:50 am
all u ps3 haters will change ur mind when ps3 home comes out ps3 is alot more advanced then da xbox
syksey on May 21, 2008 at 2:44 am
when will home be released anyway, because last year i read that it would be released in march. i also think that the PS3 is going to get better
Kiroth709 on May 21, 2008 at 3:22 am
Your all fucking stupid commenting about the updates
the updates are to keeps everyones system the same and its for one simple reason, which is because i can see an explination is going to be needed! If your running on one system and ur friend on another and yours is a lower system than your friends your friends going to have more stability in game then you are which could lead to you loggin out mid game not having the same advantages as in weapon lock-on updates and so on and so forth is it getting through to you yet ? and another thing the only thing more advanced on the XBOX360 is the Processor and thats it
a harddrive can be changed and new ones can be pluged in through usb, and the graphic card is pretty much the same with no difference in power so you people are either dumb or just fuckin retarted to not know any of this and yet still proclaim to be PS3 fans
i rest my case
Blaze1989 on May 21, 2008 at 9:13 am
ps3 has 1 processor n da xbox has 3 u dumb cunt n ps3 home is comin out at the end on 2008 between oct n dec
Hotwhleer on May 22, 2008 at 9:57 am
Well, I do think this could be a bit of an issue, But as the the random percentage canceling out, I think there is something wrong with the 40 and 60GB.
Considering, I have the 80GB and it works fine. Even thought the update takes for ever, and I want to play Haze, It’s crutial for the system.
Blaze1989 on May 22, 2008 at 8:12 pm
i have 40 but i put 60 in it now but i still have no problems n i never have
onli wiv gta it wernt saving my rank online but the patch 2.35 sorted that out!!!
krylonman on May 25, 2008 at 10:07 am
Fenderfez, regarding your #2: People aren’t complaining that they can’t play while there’s a firmware update going on; they’re complaining that access to online play is blocked *until* they update the firmware. You can’t access anything Internet-related, in fact, Playstation Store included. I agree that this is kind of a cheap trick.
Blaze1989 on May 28, 2008 at 8:46 am
y wouldnt u want da updates? whts so hard bout a 10 min dwnload? r u really in a hurry 2 get online u cant wait 10 min every nw n then?
Penguin God on June 12, 2008 at 10:49 am
basically ps3 home is the begin of virtual reality and is the starting block of new technology what does the xbox 360 got again because i forgot oh yeah i remember interchangable parts to make it try to be better i never had to buy nothing with my ps3.
Sploge on June 18, 2008 at 6:55 pm
hey about the randomly cancelling updates, if your ps3 is on a wireless network with other users also using the network then the bandwith decreases, this could cause your download to cancel, i know mine does this so i have to try it about 3 time before it works:@ but i cant wait for the 2.4 update with in-game xmb:)
Blaze1989 on June 19, 2008 at 9:40 am
