PS3 update 2.36 has just been released by Sony today.
This firmware update 2.36 will improve “system stability when playing select PlayStation format software titles.”
Eric Lempe, Director of PlayStation Network Operations, also posted at Playstation Blog on the upcoming PS3 firmware update 2.40:
We’re also happy to officially report that the 2.40 system software update for PS3 will include “XMB” access in-game. The update will also include “trophies,” an exciting new feature that we’ll be providing more details on soon, as well as some other new enhancements. We’ve talked about some of this on the blog previously and know that many of you can’t wait to get your hands on these features. You can expect us to share all of the official details shortly.

in game XMB huh? well thats a hell of step.(multi-tasking)
that will help my bluetooth work when its acting up. So we will also be able to send messages and recieve them instead of quitting the game

@moe, yes, ingame messaging, so instead of just seeing the message arrive, you can read and reply.
Have conversation and chats with people playing OTHER games, with Playstation Eye (or otehr compatible cams) you can have video chats also.
Hopefully, we can play our own music over the top of some games
as sometimes the music gets too repetitive on some games.

nice. playing my own music over the top would be great. i wonder if i could use the playstation store too at the same time and download because im in there alot.
HOW MUCH is the ps3 eye? i think its awsome you can have a video chat thats some future sh%t . How is the quality when you have a video chat

The PS3 Eye is rather cheap, I got mine for $40. Also, the quality of the PS3 Eye was quite impressive.

Th PS3 eye is great quality, can download “Eyecreate” or sometimes it comes in the box (its free) and can record yourself, add effects etc.
Also, if running some games, they use the PS Eye technology, eg like the Eye Toy.
If playing burnout paradise, after each race it takes a photo to put on your license
its fun!
But yeah looking forward to 2.40.
With the 2.36 patch, I found that the menu items load faster, this will be ready for the 2.40 patch to make it faster to load your data
can’t wait!

The latest firmware is now 2.42 o 2.43. Not sure which one.

the last is 2.50 and its big shit, stay with 2.36 if you have linux because 2.5 will f**k your WiFi connexion definately
