Massa, the Brazilian who leads the Formula One standings by two points, climbed out of his car a few minutes after the crash and did not appear to be hurt.

He already had posted the fastest time in the first practice of 1 minute, 19.575 seconds when he spun on some oil at the end of the fastest straight of the Silverstone circuit.

His car spun 180 degrees and went into the safety wall backward, damaging the rear.

McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen crossing the finish line 0.012 slower. McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton was third, 0.048 behind.

Nikki Catsouras, aka Porsche Girl, 18 years old, was tragically killed in a tragic car accident in her father’s porsche on 2006 Halloween while driving her Dad’s porsche sports car.

“Nikki broke a house rule and we had a disagreement, and I took her car keys away,” said Christos Catsouras, Nikki’s father.

Then, her family says, Nikki did something out of character. She took the keys to her father’s Porsche 911 Carrera, a car that goes zero to 60 miles an hour in less than five seconds. She had never driven the Porsche before.

According to state highway patrol reports, at approximately 1:45 p.m. last Halloween, Nikki Catsouras was traveling 100 mph on State Route 241, near Lake Forest, Calif., when she clipped another car and lost control, going across lanes over the median and slamming into a concrete tollbooth. She was killed instantly.

Here is a video of Nikki Catsouras’ tragic story:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43VlAunIFhg

As if the tragic accident was not enough for her poor parents to endure, the California Highway Patrol released the graphic pictures of the accident, and are in hot water for it!

“Her head was more or less cut in two and sort of cleaved and then smashed. It’s nothing that anyone should ever have to see,” said Michael Fertik, the founder of ReputationDefender, a company that helps clients such as the Catsouras family remove items from the Internet.

The pictures, taken by California Highway Patrol (CHiPs) officers and e-mailed outside the department, became so prevalent that Lesli Catsouras stopped checking her e-mail.

Nikki’s younger sisters were forbidden to use the Internet, and 16-year-old Danielle was taken out of school to be home schooled for fear her peers might confront her with the photos.

A lawsuit against the California Highway Patrol for allegedly releasing the accident scene pictures has been filed by the parents of Nikki Catsouras.

If you have the pictures of Nikki Catsouras in the accident scene, please do not pass it or post it on the internet. Delete it away immediately.

This is the Scott Kalitta crash video, a video showing a horrific crash that took the life of Scott Kalitta while participating in the National Hot Rod Association Super Nationals at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Scott Kalitta, the 46-year-old Funny Car driver, was killed within seconds after beginning the National Hot Rod Association ’s fourth and final qualifying round when his car, a Toyota Solara, exploded in a massive fireball at 300 miles per hour.

Son of legendary race car driver, Connie Kalitta, Scott Kalitta has had 18 career victories since he started racing in 1982. He followed in his father’s footsteps winning the Top Fuel champion twice in 1994 and 1995.

The crash video of Scott Kalitta’s final, fateful race can be seen below. Initially, Scott Kalitta seemed to be in complete control of the race car, but seconds into the race, his Toyota Solara’s engine exploded and crashed into a wall at the end of the race track where a second, larger explosion occurred. Normally, a parachute would deploy to slow the car, but Scott Kalitta’s didn’t.

Rest in peace Scott Kalitta.

H20 Car is a car that runs on water. With oil price at historical high of more than USD$134 per bbl, it looks like H20 Car is the future. What do you think?

Channel 8 news at 10pm showed the H20 Car invented by the japanese.

Reuters.com also reported on H20 Car invented by Japanese:

Tired of petrol prices rising daily at the pump? A Japanese company has invented an electric-powered, and environmentally friendly, car that it says runs solely on water.

Genepax unveiled the car in the western city of Osaka on Thursday, saying that a liter (2.1 pints) of any kind of water — rain, river or sea — was all you needed to get the engine going for about an hour at a speed of 80 km (50 miles).

“The car will continue to run as long as you have a bottle of water to top up from time to time,” Genepax CEO Kiyoshi Hirasawa told local broadcaster TV Tokyo.

“It does not require you to build up an infrastructure to recharge your batteries, which is usually the case for most electric cars,” he added.

Once the water is poured into the tank at the back of the car, the a generator breaks it down and uses it to create electrical power, TV Tokyo said.

Whether the car makes it into showrooms remains to be seen. Genepax said it had just applied for a patent and is hoping to collaborate with Japanese auto manufacturers in the future.

Most big automakers, meanwhile, are working on fuel-cell cars that run on hydrogen and emit — not consume — water.
