[amazonify]1586485563[/amazonify]Scott McClellan, Former White House Press Secretary, is the author of the book “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception” .

Scott McClellan said in his book that President Bush was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” adopted a “permanent campaign approach” when it came to governing, and used “propaganda” to sell the war.

“I still like and admire President Bush,” McClellan writes. “But he and his advisers confused the propaganda campaign with the high level of candor and honesty so fundamentally needed to build and then sustain public support during a time of war. … In this regard, he was terribly ill-served by his top advisers, especially those involved directly in national security.”

Tom HarkinTom Harkin blasted President Bush for using a “doomsday scenario” in his decision Wednesday to veto the federal $300 billion Farm Bill.

President Bush’s veto Wednesday of a $300 billion farm bill shows that he’s “aloof and out of touch with the country,” US Senator and former Democratic presidential contender Tom Harkin said.

Harkin told members of the media, including the Courier, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi planned to call a veto override vote later Wednesday afternoon.

It was the 10th veto of Bush’s presidency, but since the measure passed both houses of Congress with veto-proof majorities, Bush’s veto will likely be overridden.

Ted KennedyFollowing our report that Ted Kennedy Hospitalized With Seizure, it is confirmed that Ted Kennedy Has Malignant Brain Tumor or Malignant Glioma.

Glioma is a type tumor that affects mostly the brain, but can also affects the spinal cord or any other part of the central nervous system.

Gliomas can be either benign (slow growing) or malignant (fast growing).

Statement released by Sen. Edward Kennedy’s office from doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital:

Over the course of the last several days, we’ve done a series of tests on Senator Kennedy to determine the cause of his seizure. He has had no further seizures, remains in good overall condition, and is up and walking around the hospital. Some of the tests we had performed were inconclusive, particularly in light of the fact that the senator had severe narrowing of the left carotid artery and underwent surgery just 6 months ago. However, preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma in the left parietal lobe. The usual course of treatment includes combinations of various forms of radiation and chemotherapy. Decisions regarding the best course of treatment for Senator Kennedy will be determined after further testing and analysis. Senator Kennedy will remain at Massachusetts General Hospital for the next couple of days according to routine protocol. He remains in good spirits and full of energy.

Mark McKinnonMark McKinnon, the Austin advertising guru who helped shape George W. Bush’s two winning presidential bids and helped steer Arizona Sen. John McCain from political oblivion last summer to the Republican presidential nomination, is bowing out of the current campaign.

Last summer McKinnon announced he would leave the McCain effort if it was going up against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama in the fall campaign.

“I met Barack Obama, I read his book, I like him a great deal,” said McKinnon. “I disagree with him on very fundamental issues. But I think, as I said, I think it would a great race for the country.”

75,000 people turned out to hear Obama rally in Portland this afternoon. This is his largest crowd to date according to the campaign.

Here are some of the things he said during the rally:

“I don’t give up on things, we’ve gotta make choices and we can’t be everywhere at once,”

“We will have the majority of pledged delegates at that point and obviously are going to make the argument to any superdelegates remaining that we should be the nominee,”

“I just want everybody to understand, that Senator Clinton and I have had a terrific contest, she has been a formidable candidate, she has been smart and tough and determined and she has worked as hard as she can. And she has run an extraordinary campaign, it has been an extraordinary campaign,”

“And look, we have real differences on certain issues, but whatever differences exist between myself and Senator Clinton pale in comparison to the differences with the other side.”
