Penn vs SherkBJ Penn vs. Sean Sherk for the UFC Lightweight Championship.

BJ Penn put away Sean Sherk with a vicious combination of hands and a deafening knee in the main event at UFC 84 at the MGM Grand on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd.

He used his left jab and his crisp straight rights throughout the fight and hurt Sherk numerous times.

BJ Penn’s aggressiveness could not be denied as he retained the lightweight title.

Official decision: BJ Penn defeats Sean Sherk via TKO at the end of the third round.

“I didn’t even hear the bell ring,” Sherk said.

“(The win) is very satisfying,” said Penn (14-4-1), who was outspoken about Sherk’s legal issues after Sherk tested positive for steroids, which caused the then-champion to be stripped of his crown.

“Sherk is a great competitor. I shook his hand after the fight like I said I would,” Penn said.
