Crane CollapseA crane collapsed in Manhattan, New York., smashing into a 23-storey apartment building on Manhattan’s upper east side, before crashing onto the street below and leaving at least one person dead.

“I’m not directly on the scene, but I can confirm that we have lost a life of yet another building collapse in the borough of Manhattan, and it is an absolute tragedy,” Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer said.

“This is just unacceptable and we have got to figure out what happened here,” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. “I gather the vertical part of the crane stayed attached to the building the way it’s supposed to. This looks like the top came off. The public walking by shouldn’t be at risk.”

This is the second crane collapse in New York City within one year.

[amazonify]1586485563[/amazonify]Scott McClellan, Former White House Press Secretary, is the author of the book “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception” .

Scott McClellan said in his book that President Bush was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” adopted a “permanent campaign approach” when it came to governing, and used “propaganda” to sell the war.

“I still like and admire President Bush,” McClellan writes. “But he and his advisers confused the propaganda campaign with the high level of candor and honesty so fundamentally needed to build and then sustain public support during a time of war. … In this regard, he was terribly ill-served by his top advisers, especially those involved directly in national security.”
