Bill Clinton, former president, has announced that he is willing to campaign for White House hopeful Senator Barack Obama, who defeated his wife Hillary Clinton in the Democratic nomination race.

“He said he wanted me to campaign with him and I said I was eager to do so,” Clinton told reporters, “But he is busier than I am on politics anyway so I just told him whenever he wanted to do it I was ready. So it is basically on their timetable. He’s got a lot of things to do between now and the convention of which this is simply one. So I will do whatever I’m asked to do whenever I can do it.”

Obama and Clinton had a private meeting on June 30, but Mr. Clinton has not yet spoken publicly about it.

Clinton’s support has been branded as more of a liability than an asset for Obama, by Democratic strategists and a former fund-raiser for Senator Clinton’s campaign.

When asked to comment on the Jesse Jackson episode. Bill Clinton replied “He’s a good man. You know, if all of us lived on live mics, then 100% of us in this room would be embarrassed from time to time.”

An article, “The Comeback Id” in the July issue of Vanity Fair has made claims that former president Bill Clinton has had an affair with American film and television actress Gina Gershon.

“Recent high-end Hollywood dinner-party gossip that Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California.” Todd Purdum says in his article on former president Bill Clinton.

Todd Purdum, who is married to former president Bill Clinton press secretary Dee Dee Myers, writes in his story “The Comeback Id” that President Clinton is “seeing a lot of women on the road” and that according to “recent high-end Hollywood dinner-party gossip … Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California.”

“I reject the notion that I’m making an insinuation,” said Purdum on CNN. “But I’m very comfortable quoting the people I quote because I know who they are, and I know that they are very senior people who have known President Clinton for a very long time and work for him at very high levels.”

Bill Clinton’s office has denied the report, calling it “a tawdry, anonymous quote-filled attack piece” and “journalism of personal destruction at its worst.”

Bill Clinton was exposed for having an affair with Monica Lewinsky while she worked at the White House in 1995 and 1996.

Gershon’s representative has informed ET: “Todd Purdum’s insinuation is a lie and it is irresponsible journalism. We are demanding a retraction.”

Tom Harkin blasted President Bush for using a “doomsday scenario” in his decision Wednesday to veto the federal $300 billion Farm Bill.

President Bush’s veto Wednesday of a $300 billion farm bill shows that he’s “aloof and out of touch with the country,” US Senator and former Democratic presidential contender Tom Harkin said.

Harkin told members of the media, including the Courier, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi planned to call a veto override vote later Wednesday afternoon.

It was the 10th veto of Bush’s presidency, but since the measure passed both houses of Congress with veto-proof majorities, Bush’s veto will likely be overridden.

Investment guru Warren Buffett (the man in red shirt at the top left shown in the picture with Bill Gates, the man in black and a group of sexy Hooters girls), world’s richest man and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway, says the worst of the global credit crunch is over for Wall Street and the Federal Reserve probably averted more failures by helping to rescue the stricken investment bank Bear Stearns.

He made the comments as Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting got under way in Omaha, Nebraska, attended by a record 31,000 people.

Mr Buffett said the Fed acted properly when it arranged a bail-out in March of New York’s Bear Stearns by JPMorgan Chase. His investment decisions often go against the market and are followed religiously by many. However, Berkshire Hathaway has not escaped the credit crisis. It saw its first quarter profit tumble 64%, hurt by losses tied to derivatives contracts and a steep slide in insurance premiums.
