PS3 2.42 firmware update improves the playback quality of some PlaySation 3 and PlayStation format software.

Sony has not mention what other features it will also released in PSP 4.05 firmware update which will be released very soon.

As we know, PS3 update 2.40 will include “XMB” access in-game and also include “trophies,” an exciting new feature.

The update also adds a mini-control panel that you can use while playing music and an internet search feature powered by Google that allows you to initiate search directly from the XMB (similar to what we added to the PSP recently).

In addition, when you’re using the XMB or accessing the XMB from in-game, the current time and date will be displayed in the upper right hand corner.

PS3 firmware update 2.40 is expected to be released soon, but there are rumours that it will be delayed till July 2008.

This PSP 4.01 firmware update improves the display of search results under Internet Search for certain languages and also improves playback of video content under Videofor certain file types.

Sony PSP firmware upldate 4.00 replicates the Google Internet search experience directly to the XMB interface.The Google search on the PSP will be able to recall your last 20 search items and delivers the same search results that you’d get at Google.com

Another new feature delivered through the Sony PSP firmware update 4.00 update is the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos stored on your Memory Stick PRO Duo

Firstly, you can add custom button configuration for PlayStation One game playback by going to [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons] and then selecting [Custom].

Secondly you get the ability to quit remote play with your PlayStation 3 (PS3) while still leaving the PS3 running. For this Select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3 System] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 System] from [Quit Remote Play] when you press the HOME button on the PSP system.
