I am back to blogging again and will try my best to blog at least 1 topics a day. Richard Palace dot Com has been upgraded to WordPress 2.6.3 (the latest version available today at WordPress.org) and all the WordPress Plugins has also been updated.

Recently I bought an iPod Touch 8 GB as I still have an existing contract with StarHub, a Singapore Mobile Phone Company. So far, I am impressed with this wonderful slim gadget which is very internet friendly. I will decide if i want to get an iPhone when the contract ends.

In the next few days, I will get a new theme and also a iPhone theme for mobile access.

Mobile BrowserOpera Mobile is regarded, by many mobile users, as the best mobile browser available on the current market. It may has its strong point but it’s not free. It cost USD$24.00 Useless you have too much money to spend, read on.

Opera Mini is free but it works on GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) which cost you money when transferring data over airtime. If you connect to internet through WiFi, you can forget about Opera Mini (correct me if I am not as I cannot get it to work on WiFi.)

Internet Explorer Mobile, by Microsoft Windows, is the default browser that comes with Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone. If the classic browser loading speed is slow, do not expect the mobile browser to be fast.

Mobile FireFox, codenamed Fennec, is expected to released in the later part of the year. 2 versions under developement, Touchscreen and non-touchscreen. Mozilla, FireFox creator, actually has a Minimo project but seems to stop developing it.

SkyFire is more for US users, so I have no chance to test it. If you are a US mobile users, sign up for the private beta invitation, try it and share with us what you think.

jB5 Mobile Browser is free and actually quite fast. Try it and share with us what you think. I will do another Mobile Test Post using jB5 Mobile Browser.

NetFront™ Browser v3.5 for Windows Mobile Concept Version is new and available for trial till 31st May 2008. After that, you might have to download again. I have no idea if it will be free when they actually released it later. Surprisingly, it’s a touchscreen mobile browser. :) The Bookmark is cool too.

Iris Browser, by Torch Mobile, is based on the WebKit rendering engine, the same KHTML-derived rendering engine in Safari used in iPhone. It’s free and you can update the browser from your mobile set. The touchscreen scrolling does not work as smooth as NetFront.

Deepfish, under development by Microsoft, is a lightweight client application that leverages a powerful server side technology for delivery of content such as web pages to a Windows Mobile device. Content is displayed in a familiar desktop format that requires no additional work by the content or site author.

My choice is Opera Mobile if it is free after the 30 days trial. Till Mobile FireFox and Microsoft deepfish are available, NetFront is good but you might have to download again after 31st May. jB5 and Iris are not bad but Minimo is out. If all fails, Internet Explorer Mobile by Microsoft Windows is always there.:)

So, which is your preferred mobile browser and why is it so?

Richard Palace Dot Com Goes MobileAfter spending more than 6 hours surfing from morning to afteroon, I feel quite excited about getting Richard Palace Dot Com Mobile Friendly.

I went from searching for a Mobile Browser for my Cell Phone LG KS20 as the Microsoft Internet Mobile Browser, that comes with the Window Mobile 6, does not perform up to my expectation. I think it is rather slow.

Richard Palace Dot Com originally installed WordPress Mobile Plugin 2.1 from Alex King since my post on WordPress 2.51 installed on 27th April 2008. However after some testing and searching, I found another WordPress Mobile Plugin, by Andy Moore, more attractive. Here are some nice features:
* Easy to install, one file. WURFL not required
* Automatic mobile phone & PDA detection
* Post & upload from your mobile
* Supports display and posting of comments
* Supports AdMob mobile advertising
* SEO friendly titles and H1 tags
* Highly configurable & easy to customise
* Adheres to W3C & mTLD dotMobi standards
* Released by dotMobi Certified Developer

I will be using this WordPress Mobile Plugin till there is a better one out there. As this WordPress Mobile Plugin automatically detect the browser, the mobile site share the same address as the classic one and you will notice the differences only if you used Mobile Browser.

If you have any problem accessing my site using Mobile Browser from your pda, iphone, smartphone, mobile phone, cell phone or your classic browser like Opera, FireFox, Safari, MSIE, kindly let me know so I can rectify the problem as soon as possible.

Richard Palace Dot Com is now updated with WordPress 2.51

Not much of a problem except the Popularity Contest Plugin (currently 1.3b3) by Alex King which is quite challenging. I will talk about it in my next post.

Decided to try out the 2 new templates (StudioPress, LightBreaker) and also installed WordPress Mobile Plugin which is mainly used by mobile user.

Samsung Brings Second Life to Mobile

Mobile users can now take their online avatars with them everywhere, thanks to some new software for Samsung phones.

The mobile handset vendor has been demonstrating Second Life three-dimensional virtual world applications on its phones all week at the CTIA conference in Las Vegas.

Samsung pointed to unique features of its Second Life client, like a mixed blogging platform that allows users to post blogs simultaneously in the real world and the virtual world of Second Life. In addition, a mixed contact feature allows users to communicate with avatar friends using voice or SMS messaging. Samsung developed its mobile applications based on the open source client from Second Life’s founding company, Linden Lab. But despite those roots, Samsung emphasized the Second Life client is still compatible with Windows Mobile devices.

American users will be able to access the mobile client before the end of the year, Samsung said Tuesday, in a statement.

Samsung also used the Vegas backdrop to showcase two other mobile apps it has developed. LifeDiary manages the user’s photos and videos taken for the day, as well as all the day’s calls, SMS messages, contacts, and appointments. LifeDiary is compatible with Symbian and Windows Mobile phones and works with a PC application and a Web site to synchronize mobile content. The mobile application also allows users to create a personal blog that can be managed using a cell phone.

Samsung was also showing off its Softboard application that allows users to create games, photo albums, greeting cards, and interactive messages on a PC and then send them to mobile users they know.
