Alannah Myles, born in Toronto, Ontario on December 25, 1955, is a Canadian singer and songwriter.

In 1989, she released her self-titled debut album, Alannah Myles.

In 1990 “Black Velvet”, a single taken from that album, topped the Billboard Hot 100.
