Six to eight wedding crashers cashed the wedding reception party Saturday night 9 p.m. at the red-brick Niles Banquet Hall in Fremont’s historic Niles commercial district. That sparked a fight that spilled into the hall’s parking lot, police said, where five men were stabbed and another was beaten.
Three stabbing victims were transported to Eden Hospital, a fourth stabbing victim was transported to Regional Medical Center in Milpitas and a fifth stabbing victim was airlifted to Stanford Hospital. A sixth patient was taken to Regional Medical Center with a blunt trauma injury, according to the Fremont Fire Department.
“Anytime we have a gathering that includes young men and alcohol it can attract problems,” said Lt. Mark Devine of the Fremont Police Department, who said there were no immediate plans to review the banquet hall’s permits. “We’re still searching for the assailants. We know the suspects are Hispanic males with shaved heads and no shirts.”
On 16th Feb 2008, a 35-year-old man, Francisco Sanchez, was fatally shot by party crashers during a wedding reception at the same place. An 18-year-old Hayward man was arrested in that case.
